Hows this pitch sound?

Well I guess my first question is: what's the pitch for? That could make all the difference. If it's for agents/editors, you are missing some crucial information: WHAT HAPPENS? I wouldn't call this a pitch, I would call it back story. Using vague terms such as "bowing to humility" doesn't tell me what's going on.
